The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation reports that the number of officially employed migrants in Russia has increased. According to the department, 120.2 thousand work permits were issued to foreign nationals in the first nine months of 2024, which is 41% more than in the same period last year.
Work permits are only available to citizens of countries with a visa regime, such as the United States, China, and Germany. To obtain such a document, employers must first receive permission to hire foreign employees.
At the same time, the number of labor migrants from visa-free countries in the near abroad, such as Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Azerbaijan, decreased by 100 thousand people.
